Spend It All, Shoot It, Play It, Lose It

"One of the few things I know about writing is this: spend it all, shoot it, play it, lose it, all, right away, every time. Do not hoard what seems good for a later place in the book, or for another book; give it, give it all, give it now. The impulse to save something good for a better place later is the signal to spend it now. Something more will arise for later, something better. These things fill from behind, from beneath, like well water. Similarly, the impulse to keep to yourself what you have learned is not only shameful, it is destructive. Anything you do not give freely and abundantly becomes lost to you. You open your safe and find ashes."

Desire

"Too often, the thing you want most is the one thing you can't have.

Desire leaves us heartbroken, it wears us out.
Desire can wreck your life...

But as tough as wanting something can be,
The people who suffer the most are those who don't know what they want."

Without History Our Lives Amount to Nothing

"Some people believe that without history our lives amount to nothing.
At some point, we all have to choose:
Do we fall back on what we know?
Or do we step forward to something new?

It's hard not to be haunted by our past...

Our history is what shapes us, what guides us.
Our history resurfaces time after time after time.
So we have to remember,
Sometimes the most important history is the history we are making today."

The Same Short Moment of Life

"Our lives on this planet are too short. [T]he work to be done [is] too great... But we can perhaps remember [...] that those who live with us are our brothers, that they share with us the same short moment of life."

-Robert F. Kennedy, Bobby (IMDb)

Do No Harm; easier said than done

"First, do no harm; easier said than done.
We can take all the oaths in the world; but the fact is, most of us do harm all the time.

Sometimes even when we are trying to help, we do more harm than good...

And then the guilt rears its ugly head.
What you do with that guilt is up to you...

We are left with a choice...
Either let the guilt throw you back to the thing that got you in trouble in the first place,
Or...
learn from the guilt and do you best to move on."

Plug-in Posters

Don't be so surprised if you see poster with a hole that looks like an audio mini jack as you commute to work. It's a new advertising campaign gimmick from Pepsi. By plugging in your head/earphone, any passers-by can listen to short song snippets from the publicly-situated "multimedia displays." And of course it makes sense since everyone now a day carry some kind of audio player with them, the only question is whether they would want to look stupid by plugging things into a sign while everyone around stares at you, wondering what the hell are you hearing--or more likely: what the hell are you doing.
